Synopsis

The Expectant Mother's Guide is an annual publication of information and facilities available to pregnant women and families with young children. The Guide is a handy A5 size making it easy to carry around as a continual ready source of reference for the mom-to-be.

THE EXPECTANT MOTHER'S GUIDE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO SECTIONS:
ARTICLES
Written by professionals in their field of interest and expertise. These provide concise to the point tips to assist the mother to make informed decisions or explain and expand on a particular directory.
The articles are divided into two target areas:
1. You and Your Pregnancy - covering pregnancy issues
2. You and Your Baby - dealing with a baby up to the age of two years

DIRECTORIES
Lists of names and contact details of professional services available to women during pregnancy and for mothers with babies and toddlers.

UNIQUE ASPECTS OF THE GUIDE

• A factual / educational publication
• Leads to informed decision making
• Complete guide to childbirth education
• Comprehensive directories of professional services available to women
• A5 - handy to carry around - easy reference
• Long-life span
• The Support Group and Helpline directory has a wider appeal with parents of children older than two years of age benefiting from the numerous contact numbers it contains.

READERSHIP

The target readership is LSM 7 - 10 – pregnant moms and dads and young families with babies up to the age of approximately two years. The guide is generally kept for a period of at least two years and is then passed along to friends. The Guide includes the Expectant Father's Guide, which broadens the readership to include a larger base of male readers. The Expectant Father's Guide is written from a man's view point to help him understand how pregnancy will affect him, his partner and their relationship. Aside from the main target, readers include professionals such as gynaecologists, pharmacists, midwives, childbirth educators and others in various professions

OUR READERS

Women who are pregnant with their first child are voracious readers of information about pregnancy, childbirth and impending motherhood. The Expectant Mother's Guide presents the mother-to-be with information about pregnancy through to motherhood, at a time when she is able to spend time reading and absorbing information. This allows her to make informed decisions while pregnant, of what is best for her and her baby, before she becomes bombarded with the daily practical issues of parenting.

DISTRIBUTION

The Guide aims to reach pregnant women as early in pregnancy as possible.
Distribution Channels: Medical Aids with maternity programs, Childbirth Educators, Specialist Baby Retailers,
Bookstores and retailers serviced by Racing Distribution

BABY TALK CONSULTING SERVICES

Baby Talk Consulting Services is a company that provides professional education on various products and services to pregnant and new parents via Childbirth Educators. Childbirth Educators then include these products into their teaching, giving the products their professional endorsement. These classes are attended by about 48 000 pregnant women and their partners annually on a national basis. The objective is to create, in expectant parents, a top-of-mind awareness of the products presented to them, in order to encourage them to purchase items they have heard about in the classes. The strategy is that Baby Talk holds one-on-one teaching sessions with the Childbirth Educator to equip her to pass on the information to her clients with accuracy and confidence. Expectant parents hold their Educator in high regard, and any information she imparts is deemed highly valuable as they seek to plan to achieve the best for themselves and their baby. For more information about promoting your product or services to parents through this channel, please phone Lynne on (011) 827-4810 or 083 227 6712
